In a historic decision, the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, has been chosen as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2025 during the recent Arab Ministerial Conference on Tourism.
Iraq’s Minister of Tourism stated, “This selection represents international recognition of Baghdad’s historical significance and its promising tourism potential.”
Baghdad is considered one of the richest Arab cities in terms of heritage, hosting numerous archaeological sites from various eras, most notably:
• Al-Mustansiriya School (the oldest Islamic university)
• Al-Rasheed Street (renowned for its heritage architecture)
• The Iraqi Museum (home to thousands of ancient artifacts)
This recognition crowns the Iraqi government’s ongoing efforts to develop the tourism sector, with Baghdad recently witnessing the inauguration of numerous service and hospitality projects.
