The Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Kerbala, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul-Hussein Kareem, chaired an external Master’s thesis defense committee at the Al-Mussaib Technical College / Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University.
The thesis, presented by student Abbas Naji Hussein, was entitled:
“A Survey of the Major Pests Affecting Beehives and the Use of Certain Biological Control Methods to Manage the Greater Wax Moth in Karbala Province.”
The study aimed to identify the main pests affecting beehives, with a particular focus on applying biological control methods to combat the greater wax moth, contributing to improved bee productivity and product quality.
The researcher recommended the broader adoption of biological control as a safe and effective alternative to chemical pesticides, along with further studies on the impact of these methods on bee health and the environment.
The thesis was approved with distinction, reflecting the student’s outstanding scientific effort and the valuable contribution made to the field of bee protection and sustainable pest management.
