Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Thamer Karim Khudair Al-Janabi, the College of Agriculture held a training course entitled (Resistance against the action of pesticides in insects and the effect of modern pesticides in breaking this phenomenon) and the course lasted for three days 17-19/4/2022. On the first day, the most important groups of manufactured chemical pesticides, their mechanism of action, and their various ways of impact in combating insects that cause economic losses to crops were discussed. On the second day, the trait of resistance against the action of pesticides in insects, its causes and factors that help its development, as well as the behavior of pests to avoid pesticides, was defined.
On the third day, the possibility of implementing integrated management programs was discussed, which includes growth regulators and pheromones, which are important means in limiting the spread of pesticide resistance in insects. The session recommended the need to organize awareness sessions for workers in agricultural offices and farmers in order to raise awareness of reducing the excessive use of chemical pesticides and adhering to the recommended concentration and the principle of rotation in the use of those pesticides.
