Speech of the Dean of the College of Agriculture – University of Karbala on the occasion of the General Population and Housing Census for the year 2024

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Dear brothers and sisters, peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you
It is our pleasure to point out in this important circumstance in which the interest of our dear country in general and the holy city of Karbala in particular requires us all to stand together to make the General Population and Housing Census project a success.
The general population census is a national duty and a collective responsibility that falls on the shoulders of each one of us. It does not represent a mere collection of data and statistics, but rather an essential step towards a better future for the people of this dear country, especially our holy city, the dear city of Karbala, which is in great need of this major national step, which is one of the main tools for development planning and achieving progress and prosperity that befits its religious and social status and the continuous development taking place in it.
The population census is the basis for formulating sound policies and optimally directing resources. It contributes to building an accurate database that helps in making sound decisions in various sectors, including the agricultural sector, which is one of the main pillars of the national economy.

I call on everyone to fully cooperate with the authorities concerned with conducting the census, by providing accurate and correct data, in the belief that this national work will benefit everyone and enhance our ability to meet the future needs of future generations.

We ask God to grant us all success in serving our beloved Iraq and to crown the census efforts with success and achievement, and for our country to remain a model of giving and progress. Peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you.
