The Department of Animal Production at the College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, held an insightful scientific seminar titled “Cell Death: Causes, Types, and Mechanisms” in the department’s Al-Nakheel Hall.
The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Blash Jabr and Assistant Lecturer Hassan Mousa Jaafar. They provided a detailed overview of the concept of cell death, its various causes, and the multiple forms it can take—such as apoptosis, necrosis, and autophagy—along with the complex molecular mechanisms that regulate these critical biological processes.
The seminar also highlighted the importance of understanding cell death in various biological and medical contexts, including its role in the normal growth and development of living organisms, as well as its involvement in the onset of numerous diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.
The event saw a remarkable turnout from faculty and students of the Animal Production Department and other related departments. Attendees engaged positively with the speakers, asking questions and participating in scientific discussions that enriched the seminar’s content.
This seminar is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to promote scientific and intellectual activities and to enhance the knowledge of students and researchers with the latest developments in various fields of biological sciences.
