The Minister of Education calls on international organizations and universities to form a global advisory council, and UNESCO commends the results of higher education in Iraq

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdel Sahib, called on the competent international organizations to partner with Iraqi universities and to form a global advisory council.
This came during the opening of the activities of (Higher Education Conference in Iraq: Opportunities for Partnerships), which was held by the Department of Missions and Cultural Relations in cooperation with UNESCO and in the presence of the heads of Iraqi universities, the head of the scientific supervision and evaluation body, a number of general managers, cultural advisors and representatives of international organizations operating in Iraq.
In his speech, the Minister of Education stressed the importance of partnerships with international organizations accredited to develop and secure the requirements of development in the field of higher education and scientific research and to improve the quality and sobriety of outputs and community service, noting that university educational institutions in Iraq have achieved good results by observing the indicators and goals of the United Nations and registered thirty-five universities Presence and competition in the Times classification for sustainable development because it believes in community service and productive scientific research.
He called for focusing on applied projects and capacity-building through partnership with specialized international organizations, forming a global advisory council, and employing the expertise and energies of Iraqi universities in each governorate to develop capabilities, develop applied reality, and invest international cooperation in developing the specializations needed by educational institutions according to specific time limits. Same with the efforts of UNESCO and other organizations in the field of supporting education pathways in Iraq.
In this context, the head of the UNESCO mission in Iraq, Mr. Paulo Fontane, expressed in his speech his appreciation and happiness in the process of developing the education sector in Iraq, stressing the ability to overcome challenges and reach the best results, explaining that UNESCO is working to provide all its support to the Iraqi education sector and to provide what it needs. The educational institutions have technical means and training courses for their staff to enhance skills, praising the acceleration of the steps of interaction and development in institutions of higher education and scientific research and the remarkable positive results it formulated during the past period.
He stressed the importance of cooperation between Iraq and UNESCO and the keenness and determination of the two sides to draw a serious map for coordination in the field of education according to the contexts that enhance the Iraqi universities and their outputs indicators of quality and accreditation.
The conference sessions included presentations, proposals, dialogue, discussion and visions related to the priorities and strategic directions of higher education in Iraq, the development of higher education in the Arab region, opportunities for partnership and international cooperation in the field of scholarships and cultural exchange, the activities of Iraqi cultural attachés abroad, and a review of international cooperation experiences. In turn, Director of the Department of Missions and Cultural Relations, Dr. Hazem Baqer Taher, confirmed that the Higher Education Conference provides an appropriate environment for review and stimulating the elements of development, pointing out that educational institutions in Iraq are continuing to consolidate forms of cooperation and benefit from international experiences.
