The Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Karbala, discussed a master’s thesis tagged: Survey and diagnosis of the most important insect parasitoids belonging to the order of Hymenoptera in the Shomali district of Babylon Governorate. , by the student leader Khalaf Kazem, on Tuesday 24-8-2021. The study dealt with a survey and diagnosis of the most important insect parasitoids spread in the orchards and fields of Shomali from March 2020 to 2021 in different places and times, using several fishing methods such as fishing nets, colored water traps and Malis trap. This study is considered the first of its kind in the study area and Iraq in terms of the intensity of the field survey. The thesis concluded that new species and genera of insect parasites were recorded for the first time in Iraq. The results of the research showed the presence of (21) types of (13) families belonging to six families of important insect parasitoids belonging to the order Hymenoptera. Simplified taxonomic keys were prepared to be an introductory guide for researchers in the field of using these parasitoids in biological pest resistance programs and their preservation in Iraq. The study recommended expanding the survey of insect parasitoids in Iraq as it is one of the most important natural resources in combating agricultural pests.
