The Plant Protection Department at the College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, organized, within the curriculum of the “Practical Insect Ecology” course for the fourth year / Plant Protection Department and under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Sinai Muslim Abid and Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Burair Ahmed, the practical course teacher, on Wednesday 16/10/2024, a series of practical activities aimed at enhancing students’ scientific knowledge about the environmental relationships between insects and their surrounding environment. The activities included field trips to different natural environments, including the shade and the greenhouse affiliated with the Plant Protection Department, to collect insect samples and study the impact of environmental factors on their reproduction and spread.

The students also analyzed insect behavior patterns in the laboratory using advanced techniques, such as analyzing changes in temperature and humidity and their impact on the life cycle of insects. The students interacted greatly with the activities, expressing their great benefit from the practical aspect that contributes to developing their research and applied skills in the field of plant protection.

These activities aim to prepare students to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and improve agricultural pest control strategies, which enhances agricultural production and reduces losses resulting from the spread of pests.
