The central nursery project will include the establishment of diverse agricultural areas that include a wide range of local and imported plants and trees, which will serve as research sources for students and research staff alike, so that this nursery will contribute to providing the necessary resources for practical workshops and academic applications, in addition to enhancing modern agricultural experiments by employing the latest scientific technologies and methods. The project also seeks to raise environmental awareness among students through workshops and training courses, with the aim of teaching them new techniques such as sustainable gardening, soil management, and landscaping. In addition, the project will have a positive role in improving the university environment, as the planted plants and trees will be used to beautify the campus surroundings. The Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Karbala stated that this project is one of the strategic steps towards improving the quality of agricultural education at the college, and will contribute to providing the local market with cadres trained in modern agricultural skills that are in line with the aspirations and requirements of sustainable agricultural development in Iraq, hoping that the nursery will contribute to a qualitative shift in the field of agriculture inside and outside the university, which will enhance the university’s role in providing sustainable solutions to agricultural and environmental challenges in society.
