The “Karbala Morning” program, which is broadcast on Karbala TV channel, hosted Dr. Shaima Abdul Kadhab, head of the Women’s Affairs Unit, in a special episode that addressed a very important humanitarian issue, which is “Violence against women”.
During the meeting, Dr. Shaima spoke about the different aspects of this issue, stressing the importance of raising awareness of the dangers of violence and its negative effects on women, the family and society. She also highlighted the roles that governmental and community institutions can play in supporting and protecting women, by enacting legislation and providing legal and psychological protection and assistance to women who are subjected to violence.
Dr. Shaima stressed the need to enhance the role of the media in spreading awareness and changing the negative concepts that justify or contribute to the continuation of this phenomenon, in addition to working to empower women and provide a safe environment that enables them to achieve their potential and contribute effectively to building society.
This meeting comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts made by the Women’s Affairs Unit to address the issue of violence against women and highlight possible solutions to address it radically.
