A master’s thesis presented to the Plant Protection Department, College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, focused on the survey and identification of key aphid species (Aphididae) and some of their natural enemies in ornamental plant nurseries in Karbala Province.
The research, conducted by student Diaa Zuhair Hamad Al-Hussein, highlighted the importance of surveying and identifying the primary aphid species found on ornamental plants, as well as their natural enemies, to aid in the effective control of these pests.
The study aimed to:
Survey and identify the main aphid species (Aphididae) present in select nurseries in Karbala Province during the spring and fall seasons.
Identify the associated biological control agents naturally found in these nurseries.
The President of the University of Kerbala, Professor Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, honored the event by attending a portion of the public discussion of the thesis, showcasing the university’s commitment to fostering academic excellence.
