The Scourge of Drugs and Its Consequences – Awareness and Guidance Seminar

The College of Agriculture at the University of Kerbala, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Holy Hussainiya Shrine – Department of Religious Affairs, organized an awareness seminar in the college’s central hall on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

The seminar was attended by faculty members, employees, and students of the college, as well as participants from outside the college. It provided a systematic explanation of the drug epidemic and the consequences of its spread and use within society. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Mohammed Manakhor, a specialist from the Karbala Health Directorate, who highlighted the health and economic impacts of drug abuse on individuals and the community.

The seminar witnessed active participation from attendees, who raised questions and discussions regarding possible solutions and challenges related to the issue. Additionally, a representative from the Karbala Anti-Narcotics Directorate explained the key legal penalties for drug-related offenses and provided guidance on prevention methods.

In this context, the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Dr. Ali Abdul-Hussein Kareem, emphasized the importance of collaboration among various societal institutions to curb this phenomenon, which poses a significant threat to social and economic security.
