University of Kerbala Organizes Festival in Celebration of “Karbala Day”

The University of Kerbala organized a festival to mark “Karbala Day,” which coincides annually with the birth anniversary of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

The event, titled “Hussein (peace be upon him): A Guiding Light for Nations,” was attended by Karbala’s Governor, Engineer Nassif Jassim Al-Khattabi, along with the President and members of the Provincial Council, directors of various government departments, Ali Kamouna, the head of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) office in Karbala, as well as university presidents, deans, and students.

In his speech, Professor Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, President of the University of Kerbala, emphasized that “Karbala is no longer just a place of remembrance and worship; it has become a significant cultural, educational, and religious center. It hosts numerous academic institutions, seminaries, and cultural centers that contribute to spreading the teachings of Ahlulbayt and the principles of Islam.”

He further urged attendees to follow the path of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in all aspects of life, stressing that students should take pride in this noble legacy and use it as a source of guidance.

Karbala’s Governor also spoke at the event, stating that “Imam Hussein’s approach represents a message of dignified living. The local government in Karbala is committed to advancing progress and prosperity, drawing inspiration from the city’s centers of knowledge and scholarship, and will continue its mission of development, construction, and growth.”

Additionally, Dr. Qasim Al-Yasari, President of the Provincial Council, reaffirmed that the legislative authority in the province remains determined to pursue sustainable development and enact laws that serve the people of Karbala, drawing inspiration from the sacrifices of the Master of Martyrs, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
