
Kerbala – As part of the ongoing monitoring of the scientific and research progress of graduate students, the scientific committee in the Department of Plant Protection, represented by the head of the committee, Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdul Jalil Lahuf, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Lina Qasim Aidan, along with the head of the department, Prof. Dr. Yasser Nasser Hussein, and the graduate studies coordinator, Asst. Prof. Brer Kazem, conducted a field visit to evaluate the research projects of Master’s and Ph.D. students at the College of Agriculture, Kerbala University. The visit took place on Wednesday, March 25, 2025, to assess the progress of their research work and provide necessary guidance to support academic excellence.
During the tour, the committee reviewed a number of innovative projects addressing vital issues in the field of plant protection, such as pest control using environmentally friendly techniques, diagnosing emerging plant diseases, and developing methods for biological pest management. The students presented the preliminary results of their research, which aim to enhance sustainable agricultural production in Kerbala and neighboring areas.
The students expressed their appreciation for the direct interaction with the experts, considering the evaluative feedback as valuable for expanding the scope of their research. They also highlighted that their projects focus on practical scientific solutions that help reduce reliance on agricultural chemicals.
It is worth mentioning that the Department of Plant Protection regularly organizes visits to monitor student projects, in line with the policy of the College of Agriculture / Kerbala University to raise academic standards and build research partnerships with local and international institutions.
