Under the guidance of the respected Dean of the College of Agriculture, with direct supervision from the Head of the Department of Field Crops, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Nadhim Farhoud, and with field follow-up by the Head of the Scientific Committee, Professor Dr. Hamid Al-Fartousi, and the Fields Supervisor, Lecturer Dr. Jazran Jarrad Kadhem, the Fields Committee in the Department of Field Crops has commenced the rehabilitation and plowing of the field designated for undergraduate students’ projects.

Under the guidance of the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul-Hussein Karim, and the supervision of the Head of the Plant Protection Department, Prof. Dr. Yasser Nasser Hussein, and as part of the activities of the Plant Protection Department, Mr. Ali Abdul-Ridha Haider, head of the apiary at the College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, along with Agricultural Engineer Assistant Mohammed Shaheed, carried out an inspection of the beehives on Monday, September 22, 2025.

The inspection aimed to ensure the regular monitoring of the hives, assess the development of the bees and their need for essential nutrients, and control Varroa mites to safeguard the colonies.

Professor Dr. Abdul Zahra Jabbar, Head of the Department of Food Science at the College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, participated as co-chairman of the examination committee for the master’s thesis of the student Noor Al-Huda Ahmed Shbeeb from the Department of Plant Protection – College of Agriculture, University of Tikrit, entitled: “Comparison Between Some Chemical and Biological Control Methods Using Endophytic Bacteria in Controlling Gray Mold Disease Caused by Botrytis cinerea on Strawberry” for the academic year 2023/2024.

The study aimed to demonstrate the role of endophytic bacteria in strawberry plants and their potential application in integrated management programs for gray mold disease, by comparing the effectiveness of certain bacterial isolates with chemical pesticides. Within the framework of enhancing prospects for scientific and academic cooperation among Iraqi universities, Assistant Professor Dr. Mushtaq Talib Mohammed Ali, a faculty member at the College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, participated as the chairman of the examination committee for the master’s thesis of the student Zaman Malik Abdullah Al-Tamimi at the College of Agriculture – University of Kufa, entitled: “Evaluation of the Efficiency of Certain Plant Extracts and Their Oils in Integration with Some Biocontrol Fungi in Managing the Red Mite Tetranychus urticae on Cucumber Plants in Najaf Province.”

The thesis was approved with distinction. This achievement clearly reflects the role of the faculty members of the University of Kerbala and their active participation in the academic sphere, in line with the university’s vision of expanding the horizons of scientific and academic partnership with various Iraqi universities.
