Master’s Thesis at the University of Kerbala Explores the Development of a Biofungicide from Various Trichoderma spp.

A master’s thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, focused on the formulation of a biofungicide using different species of Trichoderma spp. and its evaluation in controlling certain seed rot and seedling damping-off pathogens. The thesis was presented by researcher Mayada Mohsen Mutaib.

The study aimed to:

  1. Control the pathogenic fungus Fusarium solani using selected species of Trichoderma spp. isolated from various Iraqi soils.
  2. Formulate a biological fungicide composed of Trichoderma spp. strains identified and characterized in this research.

Key Recommendation:

The thesis recommended the use of locally isolated Trichoderma fungi in the production of safe and sustainable biofungicides, and encouraged their integration into integrated pest management (IPM) programs in agriculture.
