A study in the College of Agriculture, University of Karbala, discussing the molecular diagnosis of the fungus that causes root diseases and the bases of the stems of the Ain Al-Bazun plant.

A master’s thesis at the College of Agriculture at the University of Karbala examined the molecular diagnosis of the fungus that causes root rot disease and seedling death of Ain Al-Bazun plant. The thesis entitled (Molecular diagnosis of the fungus that causes root diseases and the bases of the stems of the Ain Al-Bazon plant in some nurseries in the provinces of Karbala and Babylon and its biological and chemical control) by the student (Noor Ali Abdul Jaber) included four chapters, namely the introduction, review of sources, materials and methods of work, results and Discussion.
The study aimed to isolate the causes of root rot disease and seedling death of Ain Al-Bazon plant, test the pathogenicity of the isolated fungi in the laboratory, as well as the phenotypic diagnosis of the isolated fungi and the molecular diagnosis of the most pathogenic pathogen. The thesis also discussed the sensitivity of the local and imported cultivar of Ain Al-Bazoun plant to infection with the isolated fungi.
The study concluded that root rot disease and seedling death of Ain Al-Bazoun plant of both local and imported varieties are widespread in all nurseries surveyed in the governorates of Karbala and Babil. The results proved the effectiveness of the biological and chemical control methods that were used in the study.
