University of Karbala Organizes a Scientific Seminar on Environmental Agriculture and Innovative Pest Risk Reduction

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Ali Abdul-Hussein Karim, Dean of the College, the College of Agriculture at the University of Karbala organized a scientific seminar titled “Environmental Agriculture and Innovative Methods for Reducing Pest Risks.”

The seminar, presented by Mr. Hussein Ali Baqir, addressed the importance of environmental agriculture in minimizing the risks associated with agricultural pests. It highlighted the use of innovative techniques to reduce their negative impact on agricultural production. Additionally, the discussion emphasized how environmental agriculture optimally utilizes natural resources for pest control, contributing to sustainable agricultural development.

The seminar also shed light on organic farming and its role in enhancing global food security by promoting healthy and sustainable agricultural practices. These practices help reduce reliance on harmful chemicals, thereby preserving environmental balance.

Among the key topics discussed was the role of artificial intelligence in pest control. The session explored the latest smart applications and technologies used for accurate pest monitoring and diagnosis. It also covered the use of digital analysis and big data to determine the optimal irrigation timing, ultimately improving crop productivity and enhancing water resource efficiency.
