
Under the direction of the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Assistant Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul-Hussein Karim, and supervised by the Head of the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Plant, Dr. Harith Mahmoud Aziz, the College of Agriculture at the University of Kerbala organized a field trip to Fadak Farm, affiliated with the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein.
A group of students from the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Plants participated in the visit, along with several faculty members, as part of the practical requirements for the Palm Production course. The visit aimed to introduce students to the latest techniques used in date palm cultivation and to observe firsthand the field management practices applied to palm trees, one of the region’s most vital agricultural crops.
Students expressed their appreciation for the hands-on experience provided during the trip, highlighting how it enhanced their practical knowledge and connected theoretical lessons with real-world applications. The visit also allowed them to explore successful agricultural production models, preparing them to keep pace with modern advancements in the sector.
The Dean of the College emphasized the importance of such field visits in developing students’ practical skills and preparing them for the job market. He noted that the college continues to organize similar scientific activities as part of its strategy to achieve academic and research excellence.
This visit is part of a series of field activities organized by the College of Agriculture at the University of Kerbala, aimed at strengthening the practical skills of students and exposing them to modern agricultural applications, ultimately contributing to community service and sustainable development.
