College of Agriculture Holds Awareness Seminar Entitled: “Empowering Women Through Literacy: An Integrated Approach to Rural Development”

Under the patronage of the esteemed Dean of the College of Agriculture, Professor Dr. Ali Abdul-Hussein, the College organized an awareness seminar titled: “Empowering Women Through Literacy: An Integrated Approach to Rural Development”, as part of its ongoing efforts to raise community awareness and contribute to sustainable development in rural areas.

The seminar was presented by Assistant Professors Dr. Mahdi Najm Rukheet and Dr. Shaimaa Abd Kadhim, who highlighted the importance of literacy as an effective tool for empowering rural women and its vital role in bringing about positive social and economic change when women are granted access to education and community participation.

The event was attended by the Administrative Assistant to the Dean, in addition to several faculty members and a group of undergraduate students who actively engaged in discussions addressing the challenges and proposed solutions for achieving genuine empowerment of women in rural communities.

At the conclusion of the seminar, emphasis was placed on the need to continue organizing such awareness activities that enhance the academic and societal role of the College, with a recommendation to develop field training programs that support literacy and provide vocational training for women in rural areas.
