Holy Karbala Celebrates World Bee Day

Under the patronage of the Governor of Holy Karbala, Engineer Nassif Al-Khattabi, and in the presence of the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Professor Dr. Ali Abdul-Hussein Kareem, the Karbala Beekeepers Association held its annual celebration on the occasion of World Bee Day, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

The event witnessed wide participation from beekeepers and representatives of agricultural cooperative associations from various Iraqi provinces, in addition to the attendance of the Deputy Chairman of the Provincial Council, the Head of the Agriculture and Water Resources Committee, several government officials, and individuals interested in the beekeeping sector.

In his speech, the Governor emphasized the importance of bees in maintaining ecological balance and their role in enhancing food security. He praised the efforts of beekeepers and agricultural associations in developing this sector. During the ceremony, winners of the Best Honey Competition were honored, and support was provided to promote the beekeeping profession.

For his part, the Dean of the College of Agriculture commended the efforts made to strengthen this vital sector, stressing the importance of supporting farmers and beekeepers and overcoming the challenges they face, in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable agricultural development.
