As part of the principle of scientific cooperation between universities, Professor Dr. Abbas Salem Hussein, a faculty member at the College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, chaired an external master’s thesis defense committee at the Al-Mussaib Technical College / Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University.
The thesis, submitted by master’s student Sarah Abdullah Mahmoud, was entitled:
“Effect of Disinfecting Hatching Eggs with Orange Peel and Olive Leaf Extracts on Microbial Contamination, Productive Performance, and Immunity of Broiler Chickens.”
The thesis aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of using natural extracts from orange peels and olive leaves as a safe and environmentally friendly alternative for disinfecting hatching eggs, in order to reduce microbial contamination and improve the productive and health performance of broiler chickens.
The study concluded that using these natural extracts significantly reduces bacterial contamination and positively impacts growth indicators. It recommended adopting these natural extracts as disinfectants in poultry farms to promote sustainability and reduce reliance on synthetic chemicals.
The thesis was awarded a grade of Excellent, reflecting the student’s outstanding scientific effort and the valuable contribution to the field of animal production.
