The study aimed to investigate the extent of contamination of dairy products (cheese, cream, butter, yogurt) as well as veal cuts and minced meat in several districts and sub-districts of Karbala Province (city center, Al-Hurr, Ain Al-Tamur, Al-Hussainiya, and Al-Tuwairij) with Klebsiella pneumoniae, one of the most dangerous zoonotic bacteria, posing a direct threat to consumer health when present in food.
The results revealed varying levels of contamination in some food samples, depending on the different practices applied during the manufacturing stages. The study also showed that adherence to proper hygiene practices, thorough cooking of food, and pasteurization of milk are effective measures in reducing the risks of this bacterium.
At the conclusion of the defense, the committee decided to award the student, Fatima Fadhel Ubaiss, a Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine / Public Health with a grade of “Excellent,” praising her research efforts and the outcomes she achieved, which represent an important contribution to the field of food safety and public health.
