The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Agriculture, University of Karbala, organized an awareness lecture titled “The Role of Women in Elections,” as part of efforts to enhance community participation and support the path of democratic development in Iraq.
The lecture addressed the active role of women in the 2025 Iraqi elections, highlighting their significant presence both as voters exercising their constitutional rights and as candidates seeking to represent the voice of women and society in decision-making positions.
The organizers emphasized that women’s participation in the electoral process is a fundamental step toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 related to gender equality and Goal 16 aimed at building strong, just, and inclusive institutions for all.
