The College of Agriculture organizes a scientific field trip to the nurseries of the Holy Al-Abbas Shrine for students of the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Gardening

The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Gardening at the College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, organized a scientific field trip to the nurseries of the Holy Al-Abbas Shrine with the participation of third-year students. The trip was supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Abeer Qasim Kazem, Lecturer Razzaq Owiez Eidhan, Prof. Dr. Zainab Alawi Mohammed, and Agricultural Engineer Ruaa Mahdi Hamza.

The trip aimed to enhance the students’ practical and applied skills through field exposure to plant propagation methods, seedling cultivation, and the management of plastic and glass greenhouses, as well as to familiarize them with the latest technologies used in garden design and ornamental plant production.

During the visit, the nursery staff provided a comprehensive explanation of the stages of seedling production and care, and they showcased the shrine’s experiences in developing its agricultural projects and its future plans in the field of sustainable agriculture.

At the end of the trip, the students expressed their satisfaction with this valuable field experience, which allowed them to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice and connect it with real-world agricultural settings. They affirmed that such activities contribute to enhancing their scientific and research competencies and strengthen their practical skills in their field of specialization.
