In a notable step reflecting its commitment to supporting the local community and promoting scientific research, the College of Agriculture at the University of Kerbala participated in the activities of the First Scientific Conference of Karbala Scholars. The conference was organized by the Karbala Provincial Council with the aim of finding innovative solutions to the challenges facing the governorate across various vital sectors.
The college was represented at this prominent scientific event by a distinguished academic delegation headed by the respected Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul-Hussein Kareem. The delegation included ten faculty members and five postgraduate students. Their participation focused on the theme of environment and renewable energy, emphasizing the college’s leading role in directing scientific research toward pressing societal issues and developing the agricultural sector to contribute to sustainable development.
The delegation carried a clear scientific message aimed at showcasing the research and academic capabilities of the College of Agriculture, while highlighting the efforts made by its professors and students in the field of applied studies. These efforts seek to address environmental challenges and promote the use of clean and renewable energy sources.
The conference witnessed the presence of prominent official and academic figures, including the Governor of Karbala, Mr. Nassif Jassim Al-Khattabi, the Deputy Chairman of the Provincial Council, Mr. Mahfouth Al-Tamimi, and the President of the University of Karbala, Dr. Sabah Wajid. Also in attendance were several deans of colleges and directors of local government departments. All participants praised the importance of the conference and the role of academic institutions in formulating scientific solutions to societal problems.
The conference featured a variety of research sessions during which researchers presented in-depth scientific papers and innovative patents in several fields. The overall focus was on providing practical and applicable scientific solutions to serve the needs of Karbala Governorate and align with its future aspirations.
