Department of Food Science Participates in the “Green Day” Festival to Promote Environmental Awareness

The Department of Food Science at the College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, participated in the activities of the “Green Day” Festival, held with the aim of promoting environmental awareness and spreading the culture of agricultural and food sustainability. This participation took place under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ali Abdul-Hussein, Dean of the College of Agriculture, and Professor Dr. Abdul-Zahra Jabbar, Head of the Department of Food Science.

The department’s participation included a range of scientific and educational activities, featuring research posters and educational materials on healthy nutrition, the importance of reducing food waste, and the role of sustainable food in preserving the environment. Students and faculty members of the department also provided extensive explanations on eco-friendly nutrition methods and mechanisms for improving food quality within the framework of preserving natural resources.

Professor Dr. Abdul-Zahra Jabbar emphasized that this participation reflects the department’s commitment to strengthening community engagement and translating scientific knowledge into practical reality, thereby contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals and enhancing environmental awareness among various segments of society.
