A research team was able to diagnose two viruses for the first time in Iraq

A research team from the College of Agriculture at the University of Karbala and the Chinese University of Ningbo was able to diagnose and identify, for the first time in Iraq, the complete genome of the cotton mite virus and the Erysiphe necator-associated virus in the okra crop.

The research team included Dr. Adnan Abdel Jalil and master’s student Maryam Hashem Al-Helou from the Department of Plant Protection, and Dr. Zhan Min Li and Dr. Zhonctian Xu from the Institute of Plant Virology at Ningbo University in China.

It is noteworthy that the first registration nationwide was documented in the gene bank of the US National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).
