Conclusion of the First Scientific Conference of Karbala Scholars: A Gathering that Bridges the Richness of Heritage and the Horizons of Scientific Innovation

In line with the commitment of the Holy Province of Karbala to advancing scientific research and serving the community, the city witnessed the conclusion of the First Scientific Conference of Karbala Scholars, held under the slogan “From the Depths of History and the Brilliance of Civilization,” at one of its prominent historical landmarks.
The conference served as a unique academic platform, blending the rich cultural heritage with modern innovations, and emphasizing the critical role of scientific research as a driving force for local development.

The event was attended by a distinguished group of official and academic figures, led by the Governor of the Holy Karbala Province, Mr. Nassif Jassim Al-Khattabi, the Deputy Chairman of the Provincial Council, Mr. Mahfouz Al-Tamimi, and the President of the University of Karbala, Professor Dr. Sabah Wajid. Representatives from the Holy Shrines of Imam Hussein and Al-Abbas, as well as major international organizations such as UNESCO, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), and UNICEF, participated in the event. A delegation from a Korean organization and the Scientific Advisor to the Prime Minister were also present, alongside deans of colleges and directors of governmental departments.

The College of Agriculture at the University of Kerbala had a notable presence at this distinguished scientific forum. The college was represented by a high-level academic delegation headed by Dean Professor Dr. Ali Abdul-Hussein Kareem, along with a group of faculty members and several postgraduate students.
The college made significant contributions to the conference sessions, particularly in the field of environmental studies, presenting high-quality research addressing vital issues related to sustainable development and the local environment.

The conference’s outcomes stressed the importance of directing scientific research towards applied projects that contribute to the development of Karbala Province and enhancing the role of universities as centers of knowledge that address community needs.
In recognition of outstanding academic efforts, the Dean of the College of Agriculture and several faculty members were honored for their valuable contributions and for winning the distinguished research competition held as part of the conference activities.

With great success, the conference concluded its proceedings, opening promising avenues for greater scientific collaboration between universities and international institutions.
