A master’s thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, discussed the effect of potassium fertilizer and foliar spraying with hibiscus extract on the growth and yield of two turnip cultivars.
The study aimed to:
• Introduce a new cultivar of turnip and grow it under the conditions of Karbala Province, in comparison with the locally cultivated cultivar.
• Improve the quality and productivity of turnip by applying different levels of potassium and spraying various concentrations of hibiscus extract.
The thesis, submitted by the student Marlin Kareem Rasool, concluded with the following recommendations:
• Emphasizing the application of potassium fertilizer, as it significantly contributed to improving the growth indicators and yield of the two studied turnip cultivars.
• Adopting foliar spraying with hibiscus extract due to its effective role in enhancing growth, increasing yield, and improving some qualitative traits of the roots.
• Combining potassium fertilization with hibiscus extract spraying, since this interaction gave the best results in terms of increasing both vegetative and root growth.
