University of Kerbala – College of Agriculture Organizes a Training Course on the Use of Medicinal Plants in Treating Childhood Diseases

As part of the College of Agriculture’s efforts at the University of Kerbala to promote scientific research and raise health awareness, the college organized a training course titled “The Use of Medicinal Plants in Treating Childhood Diseases,” delivered by:
Asst. Prof. Dr. Sabah Abd Falih,
Lect. Fahd Raad Abdul Monem,
Lect. Nawres Kamil Mohammed.

The course aimed to highlight the importance of medicinal plants in prevention and treatment—particularly in pediatric medicine—by focusing on the active compounds these plants contain and how they can be utilized safely and effectively.

The course included several important scientific topics, most notably:
• Introducing types of medicinal plants that can be used to treat common childhood diseases.
• Studying the active compounds in these plants, such as essential oils, alkaloids, flavonoids, and others, and clarifying their therapeutic roles.
• Presenting safe extraction methods for plant extracts to ensure the preservation of their efficacy and quality.

At the conclusion of the course, participants put forward recommendations calling for the continued organization of such courses and for expanding the role of the College of Agriculture in supporting local production of medicinal plants as a sustainable source of natural treatments.
