As part of implementing the practical plan for the Field Crops Department courses at the College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, an applied practical lecture was conducted for fourth-year students in the Weed Control course during the holy month of Ramadan, under the supervision of the lecturer, Assistant Lecturer Badr Abbas Abdul Ali Al-Yasiri.

The lecture aimed to introduce and practically apply methods for calculating the densities of different weeds in known areas such as the dunum and the hectare. This was done using a quadrat method for counting in a flax field and the weeds associated with it, as well as recording the number and types of weeds present in that area.

In addition, the manual or knapsack sprayer was calibrated in terms of the quantities of spray solution required for the same areas mentioned above when mixed with different pesticides used in control operations, and determining the most suitable time to carry out these operations within the college fields.

These activities aim to enable students to perform practical applications to determine the best control methods, allowing them to conduct scientific research within the field.
