A field visit for a master’s research project in the Department of Plant Protection

As part of the ongoing scientific activities of the Department of Plant Protection to support the agricultural sector and develop sustainable solutions, the College of Agriculture at the University of Kerbala – Department of Plant Protection, hosted a specialized scientific visit and discussion for the master’s research of the student (Mustafa Hassan Hadi), entitled:
“Determining resistance levels of different stages of the two-spotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae) to various pesticide concentrations on eggplant under greenhouse conditions.”

The scientific committee consisted of a distinguished group of specialized professors to ensure scientific rigor and the accuracy of research outcomes, including:

The importance and objectives of the research lie in addressing one of the most significant challenges facing pest control specialists, namely pesticide resistance and its resulting economic losses, in addition to its multiple environmental impacts.

The researcher presented the methodology adopted in both field and laboratory experiments, along with the results achieved, which contribute to determining the effectiveness of certain pesticides compared to others, thereby enhancing the efficiency of pest management programs.

The scientific committee commended the researcher’s efforts and the organizational accuracy in conducting the study, emphasizing that such research represents a cornerstone in achieving sustainable agricultural development and protecting national food security.

This discussion comes within the framework of the College of Agriculture at the University of Kerbala’s plan to direct academic research toward addressing real-world problems facing the agricultural sector, thereby serving both the academic and practical communities.
