Several faculty members from the Department of Field Crops at the College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, participated in the First Scientific Conference of Karbala Scholars. This event serves as a distinguished scientific platform that brings together researchers, specialists, and decision-makers to discuss the challenges facing Iraq in general, and Karbala province in particular, in the fields of energy, climate change, drought, and their economic, social, and environmental impacts.
The participating delegation included:

• Professor Dr. Abbas Ali Hussein
• Assistant Professor Dr. Zaid Khalil
• Lecturer Dr. Zainab Abdul-Latif
Additionally, postgraduate student Younis Muneam Jabbar presented a scientific research paper on innovative methods to limit the spread of herbicide-resistant weeds, contributing practical and sustainable solutions to the agricultural challenges facing Iraq.
This participation was supported and directly encouraged by Professor Dr. Ali Abdul-Hussein, Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Kerbala, who praised the efforts of the researchers and students in addressing environmental and agricultural issues that impact both the province and the country.
