The Department of Field Crops at the College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala, organized an in-person training course entitled “Modern Technologies in the Production, Testing, and Certification of Strategic Forage Crop Seeds.” This course came as part of the College’s efforts to support scientific development, enhance the efficiency of academic and technical staff, and introduce them to the latest updates related to the production, testing, and certification of forage crop seeds.
The course topics were presented by:

Asst. Prof. Dr. Jizran Jard Kazem
Asst. Prof. Dr. Nazem Abdul Razaq Mirza Al-Mamouri
The course covered the importance of forage crops, the requirements of fields designated for certified seed production, and an explanation of the latest technologies used in the production, testing, and certification of strategic forage crop seeds. It also reviewed the most prominent institutions responsible for seed testing and certification, as well as the types of approved tests, such as:
Standard laboratory germination test, tetrazolium test, cold test, electrical conductivity test, and seed vigor test.
The course included illustrative videos showing seed testing procedures in developed countries.
The event witnessed active participation from faculty members and postgraduate students, who emphasized the importance of the topic in promoting the use of modern technologies in scientific research and enhancing work within academic departments.
At the conclusion of the course, participants expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the lecturers and organizers, and called for the continued organization of specialized workshops and courses that support modern scientific approaches and contribute to developing the academic and research environment at the university.
