Within the framework of the National Strategic Plan to Combat Violence against Women and Girls, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Agriculture, University of Karbala, organized an in-person awareness workshop entitled “Violence against Women: Causes and Solutions,” on the occasion of the global 16 Days Campaign to End Violence against Women, on Wednesday, 17/12/2025.
The workshop aimed to introduce the concept of violence against women and to clarify its main causes and types, while highlighting its negative psychological and social effects on the individual, the family, and society. The workshop also discussed legal and societal solutions to reduce this phenomenon and enhance awareness of women’s rights and the means of protecting them within recognized legal and humanitarian frameworks.
The workshop included a presentation on the most serious repercussions of violence against women, emphasizing the role of academic and community institutions in promoting a culture of rejecting violence and reinforcing the values of justice and equality, thereby contributing to the building of a safe and stable society.
